Action plan chat – 20 March ’18
Kim and Becky met up at the Pump House Environment Centre Cafe to discuss first steps in the Plastic Free Worcester journey. It was a positive chat that focused on how to build upon and collaborate with the organisations and individuals who are already working towards a sustainable Worcester. Worcester has a great foundation for this type of work!
We decided to focus this month’s efforts on researching five ways businesses can cut back on single-use plastic. We are going to go away and research straw policies in eateries and possible paper straw and paper bag suppliers, promotional material as an alternative to balloons and plastic-free tea bags. We plan to collate this information into a leaflet to discuss with businesses in the coming months.
We also talked about: developing a window sticker/poster for businesses who cut back on their single-use plastic as a way of positive promotion; collaborating with litter pick groups in Worcester; and plastic-free merchandise we could sell at Go Green Week on 21 April to raise money for Surfers Against Sewage.
